James Arkley formerly a Riding Staff Instructor in the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment for 14 years and a qualified & registered BHSAI, has competed to Advanced British Eventing Level and represented Great Britain Internationally for Rural Riders. During his time on the Riding Staff James was a senior staff member responsible for teaching new recruit soldiers to ride competently on Royal Ceremonial duties and compete at entry level within 12 weeks.

 

James offers individual and group lessons.

Clients range from the RAF Competition team, local riding clubs, competitive individuals, right through to the happy hacker.

 

Core aims:

 

  1. Helping individual riders or teams to prepare for competitions - including show jumping, eventing and dressage
  2. Developing training programmes suited to individual riders  including the non competitive rider
  3. Giving practical demonstrations if needed
  4. Observing riders in order to spot and help correct problems
  5. Making sure training is carried out safely with achievable results
  6. Help and advice with horse management and care

 

 

Clients have the peace of mind that he is fully insured for his teaching through the British Horse Society unlike many freelance instructors, to be able to enrol as a registered BHS instructor you have to attend Equine Specific First Aid and a Child Protection courses along with pass a Criminal Records Bureau check.
